Third Party Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Providers

Regulatory Standard Edition: August 2024 | Published: August 20, 2024

Recently, members may have received targeted marketing from various providers on the topic of continuing professional development (CPD) requirements. It has come to CPA Ontario’s attention that some third-party providers’ messaging may be leading to confusion due to its use of regulatory-style language, and specific focus on CPA CPD obligations and deadlines.

These providers do not represent and are not affiliated with CPA Ontario. Messages concerning your regulatory obligations and compliance, including CPD, will only come from CPA Ontario’s Registrar’s Office directly.

All regulatory emails from CPA Ontario will have CPA Ontario as sender.

Additionally, these providers may be claiming guarantees around the verifiability or “audit-proof” nature of their content. It is important to note that the eligibility of CPD cannot be claimed by a provider as it must meet the criteria as defined in Regulation 7-2 including section 5 which requires CPD to be relevant to the member’s responsibilities as a CPA.

Please Contact Us if you have any questions or concerns regarding any CPD communication you have received.
