2022 Annual CPD Audit

Regulatory Standard Edition: August 2022 | Published: July 14, 2022

Each year, CPA Ontario audits a selection of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) declarations. Selected members will be notified in September and asked to provide detailed information through MyPortal to support their 2021 Annual CPD declarations.

Members are reminded that their CPD must:

  • Be relevant to their professional responsibilities as a chartered professional accountant.
  • Be quantifiable, meaning that it must be specifically identifiable and be able to be expressed in terms of a specific time requirement.
  • Contain significant intellectual or practical content.
  • Include four ethics hours over a triennial period.

Members who hold a Public Accounting Licence are cautioned that the submission of a CPD exemption or declaration of non-compliance may impact their ability to apply for or renew a licence.

Note: The current annual, as well as the triennial CPD year ended on December 31, 2021. Members are reminded that it is their responsibility to retain relevant CPD documentation for five years and in a single place for ease-of-access in case they are selected for audit. If you have left an employer that held your verifiable PD, please ensure you contact them in advance for your records.
