Emily’s dedication to education and her substantial contributions to the profession’s qualification process has set her apart. For over 14 years, her roles as a marker, team leader, author and volunteer for the CPA and CA legacy qualification process underscore her commitment. Since 2010, Emily has been a distinguished instructor in accounting and taxation at both undergraduate and Master of Accounting levels at Sprott School of Business, Carleton University.

Before joining Carleton, she held senior positions as an auditor and financial management advisor.

Her volunteer engagements include serving as Director with the West Barrhaven Community Association, Investment Committee member for the Riverside United Church and a Core Group member with For Our Kids Ottawa/Gatineau.

Emily’s outstanding work as an instructor earned her the Professional Achievement Award in 2017 and the Favourite Faculty Award in 2015 from Carleton University.

Emily’s message to future CPAs is that if you ever find yourself thinking: "Somebody should do something about that...", remind yourself that you are someone. Stepping up can add incredible meaning to your life and make such a difference to others.
