Learn More About Becoming a CPA

Anastasia Rebro arrived in Canada armed with the belief that if she worked hard enough, she could create stability and opportunity for herself. In Grade 10, she made a decision that would give her the opportunity she was looking for.
“I chose the CPA path because it was a way to build a life from nothing,” Anastasia says.
At the time, it was a practical choice. What she could not see yet was how far it would take her.
On the beginning of her journey, being a CPA meant security. But after earning the designation and starting her career, the experience expanded her horizons far beyond what she had ever imagined.
“The CPA designation opened doors I didn’t even know existed,” she says. “It gave me more than a career. It gave me options. It gave me a future.”
At a big firm early in her career, Anastasia built a strong technical foundation. But it was her experience in a smaller firm that changed how she worked. Instead of focusing on a single discipline, she was exposed to the full picture. Accounting, tax, strategy and the real decisions business owners face every day. That breadth of experience changed everything.
“As a CPA, you are trusted with decisions that shape people’s lives,” she says.
Those conversations extended beyond compliance. They touched growth, risk, succession and deeply personal choices about the future. The work became more complex, more human and significantly more impactful. It also provided an opportunity to lead and mentor other CPAs, and shape their perspectives on this work.
After more than a decade in public practice, Anastasia found herself on the other side of an important, and deeply personal, business decision. The firm she worked at was put up for sale, so she made the bold choice to buy it.
“Having watched many successful entrepreneurial journeys of my clients, as their advisor, I gained the tools and the confidence to own my own business,” she says. “When you marry entrepreneurship with the skills of a CPA, anything is possible!”
Today, she leads a growing firm with a strong reputation. As an owner, she understands first-hand what it means to take risks, make tough calls and build a business, insight that shapes how she advises and supports her clients.
Anastasia works with entrepreneurs across Canada who are building businesses from the ground up. She supports founders at every stage – from chocolate companies in garages to drywall businesses started from scratch – people taking real risks with their own money, their time and their future.
“I work with people who bet everything on themselves” she says. “Owning a business has given me a deeper perspective on the pressure, the trade-offs and the responsibility that comes with it.” She understands the grit it takes to build something that lasts. For these entrepreneurs, every decision is personal, affecting their families, their employees and everything they’ve worked to create.
“That’s where I come in,” she says. “As a CPA, I help entrepreneurs make sense of and navigate their businesses. As a CPA, I help entrepreneurs move their businesses forward.”
“The CPA designation gives you the foundation to create your own future,” she says.
That foundation creates options – the freedom to define your path, pursue new opportunities and build something that is truly your own.
“The CPA designation gave me the opportunity to build a life in Canada – and now I help others build theirs,” she says.
Anastasia Rebro’s story shows how the CPA designation can create opportunity, fuel entrepreneurship and shape a life in Canada.
