CPA Ontario Hosts Practitioners’ Conference – A Pathway to Success

Created for Professionals by Professionals

Toronto – Sept. 16, 2015 – The Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario’s annual Practitioners’ Conference is being held at Nottawasaga Inn, in Alliston, Ontario, September 17 – 19, 2015.  Each year, more than 125 practitioners gather at CPA Ontario’s Practitioners’ Conference to enhance their knowledge in this unique area of professional accounting.

WHAT: CPA Ontario Practitioners’ Conference

WHEN: Thursday, September 17 from 1 to 5 p.m. through to Saturday, September 19 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

WHERE: Nottawasaga Inn Resort, 6015 Highway 89, Alliston, Ontario

SUBJECT MATTER: Among the many topics being covered at the conference, subject-matter highlights include:

The art of negotiations
Negotiation is the crucial art of getting others to accept and even embrace your point of view, and can mean the difference between success and failure.

Workplace fraud
With the typical organization losing five per cent of its revenues to fraud each year, it is paramount as a trusted adviser for CPAs to help educate and protect their clients.

Top compliance issues
Running a registered charity is increasingly complex and far more challenging than running a comparable business. Accountants are often in an excellent position to assist charities in becoming more compliant and thus reducing potential liability. This session will address the top 20 compliance issues for Canadian Registered Charities.

Helping business owners through sale or succession
Transitions in business can be difficult to handle. This session will focus on helping clients navigate a succession plan, regardless if it's a management buy-out or third party sale.

Effective communications strategy
Communication is a critical function in any organization, whether it's small or large. Communications can be charged with challenges and misunderstandings.

MEDIA: Media are invited to attend any part of the Conference and interviews can be arranged with organizers and/or speakers during or post event.
