At CPA Ontario, we are proud of our partnerships with community and charitable groups. These partnerships reflect the profession's commitment to corporate social responsibility and the public interest.



CPA Ontario's 2017 Tax Preparation Assistance program is a province-wide community service where volunteer members prepare tax returns for people with low incomes, free of charge.

CPA Ontario began the program in Toronto in 1969 as a pilot project involving 500 taxpayers. It has grown into a province-wide program with hundreds of volunteer CPAs and their associates helping thousands of people by preparing their income tax returns, for free.

Clinics operate from mid-February until April in co-operation with a variety of agencies, including food banks, charities, hospitals, senior centres and homes, community centres, social service agencies and libraries. CPA Ontario offers additional support to these agencies by providing them with an honourarium, based on the number of tax returns prepared, to help the agencies carry out their valuable work.


Each year, CPA Ontario gives its employees an opportunity to participate in a half-day volunteer engagement activity where they can give of their time to a charity. In June 2016, we chose to help the organizations identified below:

CPA Ontario staff had the opportunity to either work in the showroom assisting individuals and families in need to choose furnishings for their new homes or work in the restoration workshop where they were repairing furniture.

Our volunteers displayed their creative side and enthusiastically assembled Father’s day Gift and Snack bags for incoming patients and families.


On March 28, 2017, CPA Ontario launched our inaugural Diversity Day, a celebration of the value CPA Ontario places on internationally educated and foreign-trained professionals, and our close collaboration with agencies and associations that support new Canadians in their professional aspirations. Held in partnership with the Economic Club of Canada, the day featured an expert panel on the newcomer experience and opportunities for advancement, and was attended by more than a hundred representatives from like-minded agencies, associations and companies with robust diversity programs. 


Since 1998, CPA Ontario has been a sponsor of the Ontario Legislature Internship Program. The program brings eight recent graduates to Queen's Park every year to work with backbench members of the Legislature. The non-partisan program was established in 1975 by the Canadian Political Science Association and the Legislative Assembly of Ontario.

The focus of the program is upon the Legislative Assembly as a vital institution of government and, more particularly, upon the role of the backbench MPP. Interns provide assistance of various kinds to some of these Members in order to supplement their academic training with valuable practical experience.
CPA Ontario's support of the Ontario Legislature Internship Program is a key component of our profile-raising efforts at Queen's Park. The program is both highly recognized and valued by Ontario's Legislators.
