Denis J. Trottier, FCPA, FCA
Denis Trottier is a recently retired KPMG Ottawa audit partner and is now the first Chief Mental Health Officer for KPMG Canada. He has earned a solid reputation as an entrepreneurial advisor through his commitment to helping clients succeed, with a client list containing high-profile, owner-managed retailers, including Farm Boy and Shoppers Drug Mart. As Chief Mental Health Officer, Denis supports those at the firm who deal with mental health issues, work which earned the Royal Ottawa Hospital’s Inspiration Award in 2013. Denis, dedicated to the profession, speaks at universities in the Ottawa area about what it means to be a CPA. Denis fundraises for the Royal Ottawa Hospital and is a Board Member of the Canadian Mental Health Association.
Siim A. Vanaselja, FCPA, FCA
Since his retirement as CFO of BCE Inc. in 2015, Siim Vanaselja dedicates his time to serving on various boards including TransCanada Corporation, Great-West Lifeco Inc., RIOCAN and Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment Ltd. He commits his extensive financial and leadership experience to these organizations, helping them manage financial challenges, navigate new strategic directions and drive enhanced performance. In late 2008, Siim was asked to serve as one of eight members on the late Finance Minister Jim Flaherty’s Special Advisory Committee. For many years, Siim has dedicated his time to leading successful fundraising campaigns for organizations in Toronto and Montreal, including Big Brothers Big Sisters of Toronto, St. Mary’s Hospital and Heart and Stroke Foundation of Quebec.
Dwight W. Wainman, FCPA, FCA
Dwight Wainman, President and CEO of CaseWare International Inc., has established CaseWare as a premier technology innovator, providing auditing and financial reporting software used globally by many of the leading accounting firms, corporations and governments. In addition to delivering the first smart “paperless” workpaper solution with integrated financial reporting, SmartSync technology was introduced, allowing multiple people in a desktop environment to collaborate on the same engagement in real time. CaseWare acquired IDEA, which was developed by the CICA (now CPA Canada), and they continue to develop and grow the product. Dwight has spoken to accounting professionals around the world about the future of audit and how his teams will meet this challenge with Cloud computing, big data and artificial intelligence.
John M. Warren, FCPA, FCA
Having established his firm, Adams & Miles LLP, as an Ontario leader of condominium audits, John Warren (now retired) is recognized as an expert in his field. From the early 1990s, John foresaw the changes coming to the condominium industry and transformed his practice. Through a dedicated plan to develop his expertise, streamline procedures, develop tailored audit plans and procedures, and educate others regarding condominium corporation audits, John secured his position as a leading voice in the condominium community. John served as Chair of CPA Ontario’s Committee on Accounting and Auditing and Tax Guidelines for Ontario Condominium Corporations.
Peter M. Weissman, FCPA, FCA
As the managing partner of the downtown Toronto office of Cadesky and Associates LLP, a boutique tax planning firm, Peter Weissman has worked with his partners and staff to expand the office’s services from Canadian tax and estate planning to now include in-house cross-border tax planning and compliance, as well as international planning. Peter was Co-Cir of the Disability Advisory Committee to the Minister of National Revenue, a Governor of the Canadian Tax Foundation and is National Chair of Education for STEP Canada. He recently co-founded the Disability Tax Fairness Alliance to promote better administration of the Disability Tax Credit and appeared before the Commons Standing Committee on Finances to discuss proposed tax measures for private companies.
P. Bruce West, FCPA, FCA
Bruce West is the Executive Vice-President, Finance, and Chief Financial Officer of the Co-operators Group Limited. Based in Guelph, The Co-operators is a leading Canadian-owned, multi-line insurance and financial services organization with more than $47 billion of assets under administration. Within its four main businesses are 10 operating companies in the areas of property and casualty (P&C) insurance, life insurance, institutional asset management and brokerage operations employing upwards of 5,500 employees and more than 3,500 exclusive licensed advisors. In 2014, under Bruce’s leadership, The Co-operators became a CPA Training Office in order to augment existing resources and help develop future CPAs. Bruce was a founding member of the Canadian chapter of the Accounting for Sustainability (A4S) CFO Leadership Network.
Stephen Wetmore, FCPA, FCA
As President and CEO of Canadian Tire Corporation (CTC), Stephen Wetmore has developed the company’s business strategy during a period of major disruption in the retail industry. Named Retailer of the Year in 2013 under Stephen’s leadership, CTC shareholders have benefitted from top quartile share performance and the revitalization of one of Canada’s most iconic brands. Prior to joining CTC, Stephen served as President and CEO of Bell Aliant, one of North America’s largest regional telecommunications providers. Stephen has served on the Board of Canadian Tire since 2003 and on numerous public company Boards, educational and charitable organizations across Canada. Stephen’s support for Canadian Tire’s Jumpstart charity is changing the way children can access sport and recreation in Canada.
Donald G. Wilkinson, FCPA, FCA
Don Wilkinson is a former Vice-Chair of Deloitte LLP with over 35 years of professional leadership both within the firm and outside with clients, industry organizations and in the community. Don has worked extensively in the financial services industry and has deep expertise in the asset management and pension sectors, where he worked with the largest institutional investors across Canada. He led Deloitte’s corporate governance center, including the Directors’ Series program, and works with a number of boards to improve their performance. For well over a decade, he has been working with those researching and developing a cure for diabetes, and was a member of the National Cabinet of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation’s annual fundraising Ride.
Alan D. Willis, FCPA, FCA
Alan Willis is recognized in Canada and internationally as a pioneer and thought-leader in advancing corporate sustainability metrics and reporting, while establishing CPA Canada’s reputation and leadership in this field, for which he was awarded the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee medal in 2012. He has served on CPA Canada’s Sustainability Advisory Board and as a volunteer judge for CPA Canada’s Corporate Reporting Awards. As an independent and recognized subject-matter expert, Alan was a member of the International Integrated Reporting Council’s Working Group in developing the 2013 International Integrated Reporting Framework. Earlier, Alan was a member of the founding Steering Committee of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), which developed the original GRI Sustainability Reporting Guidelines. He has written extensively on sustainability and business reporting.

A Partner at KPMG LLP in Toronto, Dan Wilson has built a reputation as a trusted advisor to many of Canada’s largest global technology and telecom companies, as well as to its highest profile startups and scale-ups through all stages of their growth lifecycle. He has played a lead role supporting a number of the world’s largest companies in these sectors, addressing complex and emerging financial reporting issues. Dan has volunteered significant time in board positions within the CPA qualification process over the years. He has also dedicated himself to the advancement of Canada’s technology sector through his involvement in a number of organizations, including The C100 Association and the Ontario Science Centre, and supports other Canadian innovation initiatives.
