CPA Ontario hosts events that help high school and post-secondary students navigate their way towards careers as CPAs. Don’t miss out – learn more about our events below:

High School Events


No Limits Ottawa

Senior high school students get to spend the day with the who’s who of the CPA world. It’s a chance to meet, mix and mingle with some of Ontario’s brightest business minds. Ask questions, make contacts and discover where the CPA designation can take you.

  • For grade 11 and 12 high school students
  • Each school can submit the names of up to 8 students
  • Educators must be a member of the Teacher Colleague Program to register students
  • Students must register for the High School Ambassador Program (HAP) to attend No Limits
  • $10 per student…space is limited – first come, first served!
  • No Limits Ottawa is taking place on May 17, 2017 from 8:30 a.m. - 12 p.m.

About CPA Showcase

CPA Showcase is a video competition open to High School Ambassadors across on Ontario. Students create and post a video online based on a theme chosen by CPA Ontario. The theme for the 2017 competition is "Why the Chartered Professional Accountants are the Leaders of the Business World."

Write to Ignite Essay Competition

Graduating high school this year? Win up to a $500 cash bursary for your post-secondary education with the Write to Ignite essay competition! Write to Ignite is designed for graduating Ontario high school students with an interest in studying business at the post-secondary level.

Winners and Prizes:

  • First place: $500; Second place: $250; Third Place: $100.
  • Submissions accepted between March 13 and 5 p.m. on May 15, 2017.
  • Winners will be announced on May 25, 2017.

Contest Details:

  • To qualify, a student must be a graduating full-time student attending high school in Ontario and entrants must be a member of the High School Ambassador Program (HAP)
  • Submit an essay (maximum 300 words) on how the CPA designation would help you achieve success in the world of business
  • All entries must be attached (Word document) to an e-mail submitted to getinvolved@cpaontario.ca. Please submit a Word document in the following format: "John.Smith_HAPID#.doc"
  • Your submission must also include the following: Name of your high school, Name of your Business/Accounting Teacher, Contact phone number, High School Ambassador ID Number
  • Winning entries must demonstrate knowledge of the skills, attributes and attitudes required for success as a CPA. Essays will be evaluated based on the following: Research demonstrated, Creativity, Clarity/language, Adherence to essay theme


High School Ambassador Program (HAP) Webinar Series

Enjoy an informative series of three webinars to help students make post-secondary decisions, develop their professional image and highlight how to connect with CPA on university/college campuses.

  • For High school Ambassadors, Post-secondary Ambassadors and Teacher Colleagues. Join here
  • All webinars will take place from 4p.m. - 5p.m. on the following dates:

CPA InstaChallenge 

Love taking photos? Meet the CPA InstaChallenge! Connect with CPA Ontario each month by uploading a picture to Instagram based on the monthly hashtag. 

Winners and Prizes:

  • Upload a picture based on the guidelines and monthly hashtag for a chance to win a $50 VISA gift card.
  • Winners will be notified within five business days after each monthly submission deadline.

Contest Details:

  • For Ontario high school students.
  • Entrants must be a member of the High School Ambassador Program (HAP).
  • All pictures must represent the unique hashtag and should be uploaded on Instagram by the provided deadline.
  • The description of the picture should include the CPA Ontario Instagram account @goCPAontario and the hashtag provided.
  • Get as many likes and views for your submission on Instagram and be creative.
  • Do not use irrelevant/inappropriate content (keep it clean).
  • The picture must be original with no copyright infringements.

Post-Secondary Events


Chartered for Finance

Get an exclusive look into the inner workings of the field of finance with the CPAs who lead the way. They will take you on a guided tour of the finance industry and demonstrate what the CPA designation can really do for your career.

  • For post-secondary students who want a peek inside the world of finance
  • Spend your day in great company listening to speakers, attending workshops and networking with industry experts and employers
  • Meet and learn from a wide range of CPAs, including some with their CFA, who work in investment banking, private equity and venture capital, asset and wealth management, consulting and more
  • Delegates are selected by application process and a $30 delegate fee will apply for those who are selected to attend

MAP to Success Mentorship Program

Mentorship | Achievement | Possibilities

Calling all ambitious post-secondary students! Are you seeking networking opportunities, career advice and mentorship from a seasoned professional? Apply for CPA Ontario’s MAP to Success program – your chance to apply for a spot with a hand-picked CPA mentor!

  • For post-secondary students in the Post-Secondary Ambassador Program (PSAP). 
  • 15 CPA mentors from various industries, backgrounds and regions have been selected to lead and advise 15 lucky post-secondary students
  • Each selected student will receive the following benefits from their CPA mentor:
    • one-on-one coaching;
    • resume and cover letter critique;
    • mock interview, feedback and a discussion on common hiring processes;
    • office tour (workplace permitting);
    • networking opportunities; and
    • professional development.

Road to the CPA Webinar Series

Are you interested in learning more about the Road to the CPA? Always wanted to know what exactly CPAs do and the paths they took to get there? Join us for the Road to the CPA webinar series, your chance to hear from three individuals at different stages in their CPA career.

New Venture Challenge

Based on the popular CBC television show, Dragon's Den, the New Venture Challenge is your chance to pitch your business idea and win some cash!

Winners and Prizes:

  • The winning team will be awarded the opportunity to shadow our featured entrepreneurs for a day, in addition to the grand prize of $750!
  • After a careful review of all the submissions, the top contenders will be invited to pitch their business idea to a judging panel of CPAs, entrepreneurs and industry professionals in Toronto.

Contest Details:

  • Post-Secondary Ambassadors, independently or in groups of up to three people from any academic stream, can pitch their business idea. Join the Post-Secondary Ambassador Program (PSAP).
  • Pitch your business idea by creating a video, PowerPoint presentation or essay.
  • Your submission must:
    - be an original creation with no copyright infringements
    - include a business name and strategic plan
    - outline implementation and timelines
    - include cost and return on investment (ROI)
  • Format:
    - video (max. five minutes)
    - powerpoint presentation (max. ten slides)
    - essay (max. five pages)

Launch Your Future

CPA Ontario is bringing together the brightest students, partner employers and CPAs for a complimentary one-day event to guide new graduates pursuing a career in business.

One hundred recent graduates will attend the inaugural Launch Your Future conference, designed to help them focus their career goals and get started on their path to becoming a Chartered Professional Accountants (CPAs).  This conference will provide recent grads with the opportunity to:

  • learn how to earn the CPA designation with any degree
  • explore exclusive employment opportunities as a student in the CPA program
  • review and prepare for the transcript submission process
  • gain insights on how to find quality employment as a new graduate
  • network with CPAs, CPA employers and CPA Ontario staff
  • benefit from a one-on-one advisement session with recruitment experts for customized advice

Space is limited and is awarded on a first-come, first-serve basis. Eligible recent graduates are invited through email.
