CPA Ontario hosts events that help high school and post-secondary students navigate their way towards careers as CPAs. Don’t miss out — learn more about our events below.

High School Events


No Limits 

CPA Ontario is proud to support students and inspire them to exceed their goals. The No Limits conference provides senior high school students with the opportunity to expand their horizons by mixing and mingling with some of Ontario’s brightest business minds, the who’s who of the CPA world. Students are encouraged to ask questions, make contacts and discover where the CPA designation can take them.

To attend, students must be registered in the High School Ambassador Program (HAP) and be nominated by their teacher, who must be registered in the Teacher Colleague Program (TCP). Schools can submit the names of up to eight students in total. Space is limited so early registration is encouraged.

About CPA Showcase

CPA Showcase is a video competition open to High School Ambassadors across Ontario. Students create and post a video online based on a theme chosen by CPA Ontario. The theme for the 2017 competition is "Why the Chartered Professional Accountants are the Leaders of the Business World."

Write to Ignite Essay Competition

Write to Ignite is an annual essay competition designed for graduating Ontario high school students with an interest in studying business at the post-secondary level. Students can win up to $500 in cash bursaries for their post-secondary education.

CPA Ontario is proud to announce the winners of the 2017 Write to Ignite competition!

These three high-school students impressed us all with their well-written essays on how the CPA designation helps you achieve success in the world of business.

About Write to Ignite

To qualify, a student must be a graduating full-time student attending high school in Ontario and entrants must be a member of the High School Ambassador Program (HAP).The essay must be a maximum 300 words and based on a theme chosen by CPA Ontario each year. Winning entries are evaluated based on:

  • research demonstrated;
  • creativity;
  • clarity/language; and
  • adherence to the theme.

High School Ambassador Program (HAP) Webinar Series

Enjoy an informative series of three webinars to help students make post-secondary decisions, develop their professional image and highlight how to connect with CPA on university/college campuses.

CPA InstaChallenge 

Love taking photos? Meet the CPA InstaChallenge! Connect with CPA Ontario each month by uploading a picture to Instagram based on the monthly hashtag. 

Winners and Prizes:

  • Upload a picture based on the guidelines and monthly hashtag for a chance to win a $50 Visa gift card.
  • Winners will be notified within five business days after each monthly submission deadline.

Contest Details:

  • For Ontario high school students.
  • Entrants must be a member of the High School Ambassador Program (HAP).
  • All pictures must represent the unique hashtag and should be uploaded on Instagram by the provided deadline.
  • The description of the picture should include the CPA Ontario Instagram account, @goCPAontario, and the hashtag provided.
  • Get as many likes and views for your submission on Instagram and be creative.
  • Do not use irrelevant/inappropriate content (keep it clean).
  • The picture must be original with no copyright infringements.

Post-Secondary Events


Chartered for Finance

Get an exclusive look into the inner workings of the field of finance with the CPAs who lead the way. They will take you on a guided tour of the finance industry and demonstrate what the CPA designation can really do for your career.

  • For post-secondary students who want a peek inside the world of finance.
  • Spend your day in great company listening to speakers, attending workshops and networking with industry experts and employers.
  • Meet and learn from a wide range of CPAs, including some with their CFA, who work in investment banking, private equity and venture capital, asset and wealth management, consulting and more.
  • Delegates are selected by application process and a $30 delegate fee will apply for those who are selected to attend.

MAP to Success Mentorship Program

Mentorship | Achievement | Possibilities

Calling all ambitious post-secondary students! Are you seeking networking opportunities, career advice and mentorship from a seasoned professional? Apply for CPA Ontario’s MAP to Success program — your chance to apply for a spot with a hand-picked CPA mentor.

  • For post-secondary students in the Post-Secondary Ambassador Program (PSAP). 
  • 15 CPA mentors from various industries, backgrounds and regions have been selected to lead and advise 15 lucky post-secondary students.
  • Each selected student will receive the following benefits from their CPA mentor:
    • one-on-one coaching;
    • resume and cover letter critique;
    • mock interview, feedback and a discussion on common hiring processes;
    • office tour (workplace permitting);
    • networking opportunities; and
    • professional development.

Road to the CPA Webinar Series

New Venture Challenge

The CPA Ontario 2017 New Venture Challenge was an exciting success!

Congratulations to our first winner, Shreya Notaney.

Shreya has just completed her first undergraduate year at the Schulich School of Business (York University) and is working toward her BBA degree.

Shreya pitched her business idea to CPA entrepreneurs Chad Davis, CPA, CMA and Josh Zweig, CPA, CA, founders of the first digital accounting office in Canada. Shreya’s creative, practical and business-savvy pitch earned her $750 to help get her business growing.

We congratulate all participants and are planning our 2018 New Venture Competition – stay tuned!

Competition Details:

Based on the popular CBC television show Dragons' Den, the New Venture Challenge is the chance for post-secondary students to pitch their business idea and win some cash. To enter, student must be members of the CPA Ontario Post-Secondary Ambassador Program (PSAP).

Launch Your Future

CPA Ontario is bringing together the brightest students, partner employers and CPAs for a complimentary one-day event to guide new graduates pursuing a career in business.

One hundred recent graduates will attend the inaugural Launch Your Future conference, designed to help them focus their career goals and get started on their path to becoming Chartered Professional Accountants (CPAs). This conference will provide recent grads with the opportunity to:

  • Learn how to earn the CPA designation with any degree.
  • Explore exclusive employment opportunities as a student in the CPA program.
  • Review and prepare for the transcript submission process.
  • Gain insights on how to find quality employment as a new graduate.
  • Network with CPAs, CPA employers and CPA Ontario staff.
  • Benefit from a one-on-one advisement session with recruitment experts for customized advice.

Space is limited and is awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. Eligible recent graduates are invited through email.
