Module Zero is a free self-assessment tool available to all students in the CPA Professional Education Program (CPA PEP) and is designed to help them fill any knowledge gaps and/or refresh their knowledge prior to starting Core 1.
Module Zero should be completed prior to the start of Core 1, or prior to challenging an examination. Students are expected to be familiar with everything in Module Zero at the start of the CPA PEP.
The entry requirements for the CPA PEP include competencies that are additions to those required for the legacy programs. This tool is meant to bridge the gap between what you took at a post-secondary institution (PSI) and what is now expected at entry to CPA PEP, but not to the examination level. Refer to the CPA Competency Map and Knowledge Supplement for more information on the entry and examination levels.
Module Zero material covers four competency areas:
- Financial Accounting
- Management Accounting
- Strategy and Governance
Students may not need to complete any of Module Zero if they feel comfortable with the required content at the entry level for the CPA PEP; however, you will need to select "no topics required" in order to enrol in your next module.
