Upholding High Standards to Protect the Public: Managing Audit Quality 2023

Audit provides one of the pillars of trust in our capital markets, and it is the responsibility of firms to maintain that trust by ensuring that their audits are of the highest quality. In 2022/23 CPA Ontario conducted a focused review of public accounting firms that conduct audits of reporting issuers to determine if the way they manage audit quality meets the standards and expectations of the profession.

Office of the Fairness Commissioner

The Fair Access to Regulated Professions and Compulsory Trades Act, 2006 (FARPACTA) requires each Regulated Profession to prepare a fair registration practices report annually or at such other times as the Fairness Commissioner may specify. Public Accountants Council for the Province of Ontario

Before its dissolution in 2021, following the amendment to the Public Accounting Act, 2004, the Public Accountants Council for the Province of Ontario (PAC) ensured public accounting in Ontario was practised in accordance with Public Accounting Standards. Each year, CPA Ontario, CGA Ontario and CMA Ontario were required to submit an annual supplemental report containing prescribed information.
