Common Final Examination (CFE)
In addition to formative examinations throughout the program, the CPA certification program culminates in a summative final examination, the Common Final Exam (CFE), that evaluates candidates on the competencies defined by the Competency Map.
Candidates must demonstrate Breadth in all six core competency areas and must also demonstrate Depth in two core competency areas. The Depth must be in Financial Reporting or Management Accounting, plus one from the other core competency areas. CPA Canada has prepared a presentation on the CFE. Students are strongly encouraged to read this presentation prior to writing the CFE as it explains the make-up of the CFE, what is examinable and how the CFE is marked.

In 2017, there will be one offering the CFE. Exacts dates are to be determined. The Capstone modules will be offered only once in 2017, leading up to the September 2017 CFE.
In 2018, there will be at least one offering the CFE. Exacts dates are to be determined. The Capstone modules will be offered immediately preceding the offering(s).
